THE BACKSTORY OF EESKAY

Born Ishaq Baba Bello on 4 April 1998, Eeskay comes from a monogamous family in Garki, Abuja. As The first born and first son of 3 children, his journey into music and the performing arts started in High school where he would write rhymes all day long and get punished by his teachers for not focusing on academic activities. His love for music continued to grow and in 2018, he recorded his first official track which was a fusion of UK drill music and Afrobeats! Eeskay attended boarding school in Abuja before furthering his education in Ekiti. The transition exposed him to the gruesome world of gangs and street life. Although his early musical influences include Drake, Pharrell, it wasn’t until he got introduced to UK drill that he began to discover his own sound.

Eeskay’s career took off once he got to Afe-Babalola university in Ekiti state; where he hustled to record music and perform at talent shows and soon became a sensation. He graduated with second class honours in tourism and event management. After completion of his undergraduate degree he was free to experiment and further develop his sound. Combining his love for UK drill music and Afrobeats origins he was able to form his own sound he refers to as afro-drill. Drawing inspiration from past experiences and revelations of the future, Eeskay prides himself on the capacity of his music to predict upcoming occurrences and educate the world on what’s to come.
